This weekend our fantastic improvisers went all the way down south to Seattle where they competed in the college improv tournament. Not only did these fabulous people compete, THEYYY WONNNNNN. Next stop for our lovely friends is Chicagooo where they will continue to represent UBCimprov and Canada on an international scale!

This is your last chance to see the glory of our teams as they are because THEY DIE WITH THIS SCHOOL YEAR. That's right, never again will you see the mysteriously hypnotic combination of Sleepover, Duck Duck Couscous, Doing Our Best and SS Lindenburg all together on stage again.
PEOPLE ARE GRADUATING/GOING ON EXCHANGE, FOLKS! Improvisers who have been busting their funnymakers for LIKE FOUR YEARSISH will be performing for the LAST TIME EVER on Friday! I will cry! At the end of February, six plucky improvisers from UBC Improv packed up and headed to Chicago for the NATIONALS of the College Improv Tournament. They met talented improvisers from around North America, devoured copious amounts of deep dish pizza and eventually... PLACED SECOND IN THE WHOLE DARN CONTINENT! That's right, UBC Improv is currently the second best improv team in North America! We're so honored to have been able to improvise with such incredible teams and so grateful for all the love we've received during this experience.
This week ( on March 10th) we have our special annual NOT IMPROV show. Our savvy improvisers will prove they're more than their spontaneity- they can dance, sing, do standup and who the heck knows what else! Find out our SECRET HIDDEN TALENTS that will shake your very being to the core (tbh this show is just as hilarious as our normal shows also there will be sketches don't miss out).
Finally, our IMPULSE FESTIVAL is APPROACHING. Absurdly talented and hilarious teams will be making their way to Vancouver from such exotic locales as BELLINGHAM, EDMONTON, VICTORIA, CALGARY and REGINA to regale you with their (moderately) foreign charms! We have a show every night from March 22nd to 25th, stay tuned for the specific dates each team will be performing! DON'T MISS IT THIS SPECIAL (AND SPECTACULAR) IMPROV EXTRAVAGANZA!

They'll be performing along with up-and-coming comedian and UBCI Alumna MADDY KELLY, as well as hilarious Vancouver sketch comedy group WHITE NOISE!
Come to the Nest on Friday at 9:30 PM for a SEXY LATE NIGHT CELEBRATION OF COMEDY! We will be selling the GREATEST POPCORN IN VANCOUVER, stolen in the dead of night with the help of a skilled team of raccoons from the Dunbar Movie Theatre! Just kidding, we are legally buying it from them with accepted tender, don't you worry. But know it will be delicious either way, along with a variety of other TASTY goods!
We can only hope you look at the food with as much love as Trang looks at this enormous turkey leg!

Apparently 2016 was the HOTTEST YEAR ON RECORD! An academically backed study states UBCI WILL KEEP GETTING HOTTER EXPONENTIALLY UNTIL THE EARTH COLLIDES WITH THE SUN!
Also climate change is affecting more people than ever so please recycle- or throw your empty cans and bottles at climate change deniers, we will also accept that.

Let's get real- UBC, you have been amazing audience members all semester long. We would be a pale, shivering shadow of ourselves without everyone who comes out each week to support us, you gushy goobers of delightful heart candies.
You helped us raise over ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS for Lace Up for Kids at our last show, which is gonna go right to helping children with rare diseases!
So, long story short, you rock.
ALL THAT BEING SAID, we have ONE LAST SHOW THIS SEMESTER coming up THIS FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2ND!!!!!!!!
"Wait?" you say, bleary-eyed and looking up from the ominous tomes of the textbooks that are single-handedly ruining your back and making your Aunt Yvonne question your posture at family gatherings. "December 2nd? The last day of classes?"
THAT'S RIGHT, YOUNG ROCK AND ROLLERS! Come celebrate the end of one of the darkest and wettest autumns in Vancouver's history with us! Though we may not be able to bring back those whimsical and sunny days of August, we can bring you DELIGHT ON FRIDAY NIGHT. Stave off the misery of exams FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE and come ogle at whatever we come up with on Friday.

We are offering 4 nights of non-stop improvised hilarity, improv workshops with the finest instructors known to man, a chance to network with the most talented improvisors in the country (and the world?), and of course parties galore!

Audition Information 2015
Are you interested in joining UBC improv for the upcoming year? Or maybe you just want that sweet sweet membership? Well then this post is FOR YOU! We are going to be set up at clubs day in the NEST September 23-25, 2015 from 10 am - 3 pm! You can come on by and purchase a membership and/or sign up for an audition slot!
AUDITIONS: These will be held the week after clubs week on September 29, 30, October 1 and callbacks on October 2! Auditions will be held in scarfe 100 of the Neville scarfe building in the evening! If you cannot sign up at the booth, please email us and we will get you a time slot!

Grad School Improv!
Grad School Improv is a collection of current and past UBC improvisers who have been given a WEEKLY spot performing improv comedy at Seven Dining Lounge (53 West Broadway). This will be a hilarious improv show from 8:00pm-10:00pm every Tuesday for only $4! That's less than a grande mocha! Every week you'll see a collection of fun games, scenes, and some bigger long-form pieces. So, on Tuesdays at 8:00, head on down to Seven Dining Lounge (formerly the Kozmik Zoo). Order a beer, grab a meal, and come laugh with us!

The annual UBC Improv Impulse Festival is back! Come join us from Wednesday, March 26th to Saturday, March 29th as we host our own international university improv festival! See universities such as UVic, U of Regina, U of Washington, Whitman College, U of Alberta, Western Washington University, U of Winnipeg, our fantastic Festival Ensemble, and 4 teams from UBC Improv!
Every night is in Scarfe 100 at 7pm. Tickets for each night are $3 or free for members.

Our Latest Sketch!
UBC Improv wins 2nd place in Chicago!
After competing against the top teams in the country, UBCi took home the silver cup, and made some good friends with our neighbours down south while doing it. The improv we saw was fast paced, high energy, and very, very funny. Canada has shown we can play with the big boys by bringing it back to a good old fashioned story. Thank you for all the support from back home. UBC Improv is grateful as always for a fantastic school, amazing fans, and the best friends at home, and internationally.
"Not Improv" Show
On March 1st, UBC Improv is having its very first "Not Improv" show. Entitled UBC Improv Does "Not Improv," it will be a wonderful night full of live sketches, filmed sketches, stand-up, and more! March 15th 7pm in Scarfe 100.

UBC Improv at The College Improv Tournament in Seattle!
UBC Improv recently travelled south of the border to compete in the Seattle edition of the College Improv Tournament. After winning our preliminary round and placing second in the finals, we will have the chance to be a wild card team sent to the national finals in Chicago! UBC Improv at 10 SPEED!
UBC Improv recently performed at 10 SPEED, a show run by three former UBC Improv presidents that features seven of Vancouver's best improv groups perform ten-minute sets. It was a blast!

A New Cast!
Thanks to everyone who came out to audition for the 2011/12 cast. We were overwhelmed by how many talented and excited improvisors we saw. Alas, there are only so many places on our three teams so some tough decisions had to be made. However, there are lots of opportunities for anyone who is interested in improv to get involved with the club. Stay tuned for information on upcoming shows and workshops!

Auditions are Monday, September 26th, Tuesday, September 27th and Thursday September 29th. There are two time slots: 5:00-6:00pm and 6:00-7:00pm. This all takes place in Scarfe 100. Goodbye 2010/2011 Season
With the end of term comes the end of another fantastic UBC Improv season. We've had some great times this year with all of our shows and workshops, our first ever Beer Garden and our biggest Impulse Festival yet. Thank you to everyone who came out to the shows and workshops during the past year, we really appreciate your support!
