Auditions
Auditions for the UBC Improv 2025/26 Cast will be taking place at the beginning of October, dates TBD!
General Info
What can you expect at auditions? They aren’t stressful, I promise. Auditions aren’t about selecting the most technically-skilled, experienced comedians. They are about finding people who are positive, respectful, willing to be coached, and willing to put themselves out there. If you want a taste of what auditions are like, come to one of our pre-audition workshops!
Many of our members started out with no prior improv experience, or no theatre experience at all. That’s why we hire professional coaches, so we can all learn improv! Of course, prior experience is A great asset, and will certainly help you in your audition, but neither of them are prerequisites for our teams.
Finally, if you don’t get cast, don’t be discouraged. In almost all cases, we liked you and want you to remain involved in our club! Sometimes, we simply don’t have room to cast all the amazing people we see on our teams Regardless, there are still plenty of ways for you to stay involved in the club through our workshops, jams, shows, and showcase team. Who: Auditions are open to all UBC Students with a UBC Improv Membership*. No improv experience necessary!
When: Auditions are hosted in September or October for the upcoming academic year.
Where: Will be emailed to you once you sign up!
Length: 2 hours - specific times TBA
What: Auditions are run similar to workshops! You'll get to meet your fellow auditionees, play some warm-up games, practice a few skills. The only difference between auditions and workshops is that the coaches will be present to watch!
*memberships are only valid for the academic year in which they are purchased
